From Santa Rita to Far West.

The Franco family comes from Santa Rita, a town in Pampanga, the province in the north of the Philippines that the rest of the country goes to for its food.

There were seven of us growing up, and we all learned to cook the same way, standing next to our mother, Francisca, and our father, Zoilo. The recipes were theirs before they were ours, and their parents' before that. Sisig the way it's made in Pampanga. Kare-kare with the peanut sauce made from scratch. Adobo that simmers until the pork gives up.

We came to Austin more than ten years ago. A restaurant of our own was the dream the whole time. Today it's here, on Far West Boulevard in Northwest Hills, with the Chinese dishes our family has always cooked beside the Filipino ones.

Everything is cooked to order, the way it was at home. Kapatad brings the homemade, earthy flavors of the Philippines to Austin.

Why Pampanga.

People in the Philippines call it the culinary capital of the country. The dishes you know as Filipino food often started there.

  • Sisig is from PampangaIt comes from Angeles City, a short drive from Santa Rita. Ours is chopped grilled pork with liver, onion, ginger, chili and lime, served crackling on cast iron.
  • Recipes handed down through generationsOur dishes are the ones popular all over the Philippines, made the way our parents made them. Kare-kare, caldereta, adobo, lumpia.
  • Hospitality is the other halfIn Pampanga a guest never leaves hungry. That's the rule here too.

Come meet the family.

We're a family-run restaurant, and you'll usually find one of us in the dining room. Ask us what to order.
